Global Warming Predictions That Went Up In Smoke
The biggest problem with getting behind politicians and commentators who push global warming are the bold predictions they make. Here are some highlights:
-
In 1970 the Boston Globe reported “Scientist predicts a new ice age by 21st century”.
-
In 1971 the Washington Post published a Columbia University scientist’s theory that the world was 'as little as 50 or 60 years away from a disastrous new ice age.'
-
Time magazine warned its readers in 1974 that an ice age was headed our way. 'Telltale signs are everywhere — from the unexpected persistence and thickness of pack ice in the waters around Iceland to the southward migration of a warmth-loving creature like the armadillo from the Midwest', the magazine reported.
-
The Guardian warned in 1974 that “space satellites show new Ice Age coming fast.”
-
A 1989 Associated Press headline screamed: “Rising seas could obliterate nations: U.N. officials.” The article went into a U.N. environmental official’s theory that the United States would disappear by the year 2000 if global warming was not reversed.
-
Al Gore brought global warming doomsday scenarios to the mainstream with his 2006 hit “documentary” called “An Inconvenient Truth.” Gore predicted that Arctic ice would completely melt in seven years. This would mean that this should have occurred by 2013. Following his prediction, Arctic ice actually expanded. It is now melting at a quicker rate, but the expansion and then melting seems to support theories that global warming is part of a cycle that is not nearly as threatening to human life as leftists would have us believe.
-
ABC News released a fear-mongering video in 2008 that showed global warming causing water to swallow major portions of New York City.
-
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claims the world has only 12 years until extinction. She has also predicted that Miami will be underwater in just a few years.
-
The Obamas think the coasts will soon be swallowed by water, yet they are spending millions to live there.
There are many many examples of the above. For a more complete list, click on this link to 50 Years of Failed Eco-pocalyptic Predictions.
